Born in England, Alan Brown studied piano with Ruth Harte at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was awarded the Recital Diploma and named National Most Promising Pianist of the Year. He was a finalist in the Royal Overseas League and National Federation of Music Societies competitions and won the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.
Following his Wigmore Hall debut, Alan has established an international performing career, appearing regularly throughout the United Kingdom and across Europe, as well as in Australia, South Korea, and Japan. His repertoire encompasses over forty-five piano concertos, reflecting a broad and versatile engagement with the concerto tradition, and he has performed with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra.
Alongside his solo work, he is widely regarded as a highly accomplished chamber musician and duo partner, collaborating with both wind and string players across Europe in recitals, festivals, and competitions. His work also includes coaching and accompanying students at leading institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Alan is a regular accompanist at international string courses, where he works in close collaboration with eminent professors including Igor Ozim, Thomas Brandis, Wonji Kim, Philippe Koch, Christiane Hutcap, and Wen-Sinn Yang. He is also regularly invited to major international competitions, including the International Louis Spohr Competition in Weimar, with a return engagement in October 2026.
