Orbis Musicus String Academy 2026
Stringworkshop Bissendorf 2025
The course is open to violinists, violists, and cellists aged 15 and above. We welcome applications from advanced students and young professionals, as well as younger players who are already working at a high level and are looking to develop their playing in an intensive and supportive environment.
Applications are submitted via the online form on our website. You will be asked to provide a short video recording, along with a CV outlining your musical background.
Please submit up to five minutes of a work of your choice. This may include solo repertoire or orchestral excerpts.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We aim to inform applicants within approximately one week of submission.
Participants receive individual lessons, mock audition training, and the opportunity to take part in open Q&A workshops with members of the faculty.
Each participant will work with their assigned teacher. However, it is often possible to observe other lessons with the agreement of the participant involved.
Yes — the course includes informal performance opportunities as well as a final concert within the academy, offering participants the chance to share their work in a supportive internal setting.
All participants are accommodated on site at the Landesakademie Ochsenhausen. The residential setting allows for a fully immersive experience, with rehearsal spaces, teaching rooms, and performance venues all located within the academy.
Yes — full board is provided for the duration of the course.
Ochsenhausen is accessible by train via Biberach (Riss), followed by a short bus or taxi journey.

Detailed travel information will be provided to participants in advance of the course.
The academy offers a number of practice and rehearsal spaces. In addition, participants may also use their rooms for individual practice as needed.
Participants should bring their instrument, music, and anything they may need for rehearsals and performances. Further practical details will be shared closer to the course.
Participants are responsible for arranging their own instrument insurance. While participants themselves are covered by public liability insurance during their stay on campus, instruments are not insured by the course.
The course fee includes tuition, accommodation, and meals for the full duration of the academy.
Travel costs are not included and should be arranged by the participant.
A limited number of full tuition scholarships are available. These cover the course fee; however, travel costs are not included.
